Above is my social media evolution resume, it indicates the most recent social media platforms that I am using to the oldest ones I have used.

Using social media tools to get your brand out there and bringing out YOU is vital in the PR field. It is a method for people to get to know you better and assess your credibility and your presence online.

Blogging is truly a phenomenon, it is a form of story- telling. I am telling you my story right now. Anyone can read about my passions.

I am giving everyone an opportunity to truly see sides of me that I want them too see.

Being available, searchable and interactive are a crucial aspect of a great blog.

I feel like a semi-expert now, I feel involved, I feel proud that I have learned ways to show myself to the world, and I have the control of the messages displayed, the rest is left to interpretations and discussion.

It is all about my words, my pictures, my profiles that exhibit ME!

telling my story?

I'm on the pursuit of happiness.

I am semi- new to social media. I want to make differences. I want to use social platforms for the better good of the world. I believe that if there is a will there is a way.

What I've learned this far is that social media has endless possibilities. If used properly it can really enhance your online presence.

You have the power and you are the expert of you. It is a matter of how you use these tools to present you.

I have so much to learn. I am not ready to narrow down who I am yet, it is definitely a continuous journey.

I do know that I am excited, and open minded. I like to think of myself as authentic and real.

I am still bewildered by the connections one can make through social media sites.
You can effect people from far and wide, or connect with someone who lives really close to you that you never knew existed.

We are all figuring out who we are, check out my fellow colleagues blog on this very same issue. He put me on the spot and asked me a basic question. WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL BRAND?

Building relationships and your social capital is essential for PR. What I am doing now, is taking one step at a time, constantly focusing on who I am, how I present myself, and learning the tools and applications that can bring this to life.

“HOW TO” DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL

dosomething.org

Powering offline action. Using the power of online to get teens to do good stuff offline.

It is uplifting to find a website dedicated to searching for causes that matter to you, which also gives you a list of many different ways to actively help and participate that fits your lifestyle.

Not only is social media a tool for corporate business purposes, it is also a vehicle to enable individuals to involve themselves in social changes.

It is so simple. It is so easy to use. More importantly it really is easy to be active because they tell you endless ways to do so.

In order to get started you have 4 basic questions to answer:

1. What cause?
2. Who with?
3. Where?
4. How long?

Once you have answered these 4 questions it directs you to a page with a list of suggestions and ideas on "how to" to get started.

dosomething.org created ONE place online where you can learn about about social causes, and ways to participate offline.

It allows individuals to realistically choose how much time they can dedicate to a cause.

For example in the “how long” section, you can choose from: one minute, one day, one semester, one year etc..

As I continued to go through the site I found a page dedicated to a list of celebs that are partaking in social change.

Nick Jonas, Nick Cannon… These are a few celebs who advocate for social change.

Nick Jonas is all for keeping music in schools and Nick Cannon is participating in keeping schools green.

Cannon set up a Youtube video alongside HP.

There are forums on domesomething.org and it also has profiles on Twitter ,Facebook and Youtube.

The staff of dosomething.org also have blogs and talk candidly about what they do.

This site is very friendly and engages individuals to come together, work together and help together.

Why you missed out if you missed the Grammys

The buzz about Michael Jackson’s tribute at the 52nd annual Grammy awards buzzed so loud I thought my ears would almost bleed before Sunday night.

Five major artists graced the stage, as the voice of Jackson spoke in the background about planet Earth.
The honoured artists included; Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson and Jennifer Hudson. They performed Michael Jackson’s Earth Song.

The tribute was performed in 3-D. The background screens where filled with images of the earth and nature. Each artist brought a distinct sound to the song. The 3-D effects wowed the audience, but a greater message was evident.

Jackson’s concern for the environment and humanity is prevalent in his music. What an appropriate song considering the state of our planet.

Jackson’s children accepted his Lifetime Achievement Award. They walked onto the stage in typical Jackson attire.

Both children wore matching black jackets and pants, white collared shirts and red ribbons across their arms. They spoke kindly of their father. Immense gratitude was given to the fans for their continued love and support.

Drama and controversy constantly surrounded him. His music and talent surpassed all of this. Like his children said, his music always had one focus: love.

This tribute was magical. The strength and magnitude of the artists’ voices reinforced the strength of the song's meaning.

Michael Jackson’s DVD THIS IS IT was released on January 26.  From a PR perspective the timing was ideal.

After saying that, I still believe that the message of this song, combined with the prominent artists’ contributions, made for a memorable performance.

Rest in peace Michael Jackson.
